Beginner or advance -- helpful for either Apr 24, 2010

The BEST part of this book is that it is spiral bound! When trying to learn a technique, nothing is worse than to have to fight to keep the book open to the page you are reading. No problem here with the spiral binding.

A to Z provides very basic information for the beginning sewing such as types of feet for your machine, a chart of which needle to use when, a chart of care symbols for different fabrics and a chart of fabric content to name just a very few of the many things in this book. There are sections on various things such as notions and measurements. Then there are how-to sections beginning with Appliqué and ending with zippers with all types of things in between such as casings facings and linings.

If you are more advanced in your sewing abilities, maybe you haven't created shirring or put in interfacing. Or maybe darts are not your best technique. Just look up one of these and see if they authors provide a better way for you to do this. Of course, there are plenty of photos to show you what the technique should look like and the step-by-step directions for creating the technique are easy to follow.

The end of the book is almost as good as the beginning with a glossary of terms and an easy to look up content list. This is an all around good book for any person who likes to sew whether that is a beginner or someone more advanced.
