Customer Reviews:

yet another great Country Bumpkin book Dec 07, 2007

This book is a wonderful collection of techniques with great instructions and photos. I am really glad I have it.

Clear and Comprehensive Jul 03, 2004

This is an excellent book for beginning or experienced sewers. Through detailed color pictures and instructions, the author very clearly demonstrates how to embroider using bullion knots. The book also includes hundreds of patterns of items to embroider using this stitch, including Christmas motifs, animals, toys, fruits, and beautiful flowers. The author covers topics such as embroidery for "lefties", thread and needle selection, and trouble shooting. The book has a few elements I found especially helpful: the spiral binding allows pages to lay flat, all patterns are shown both in drawings and actual photos of completed work, and each pattern comes with very detailed instructions. This is a top-notch guide.

Drop your needle and buy this book! Jan 08, 2004

This reference(indeed, the entire Inspirations A-Z series) is so unique and so incredibly well written that no needle artist should be without it. Bullion stitches are typically some of the most difficult to work and most esoteric in use. This book demystifies the bullion knot and makes it a creative element of its own. It covers everything you need to know - fabric selection, securing the thread, needle size, thread comparisons - and then presents the knot in an array of some of the most charming projects to ever be seen in an embroidery book. How can you not love an embroidery book that shows wombats done completely in bullion knots?!
The photos and text are perfectly clear and concise. The book is light, spiral bound, and very easy to transport or keep by your side for reference. I hope the women who worked on this book and the other books in the A-Z series read this, because they have done an outstanding job, and I would love to thank them!
