Editorial Reviews:

Some say “stop and smell the flowers”—but the indomitable Nicky Epstein says: Stop and CROCHET them instead!

Beloved designer Epstein gives crocheters a special gift: an exquisite collection of over 40 flowers—plus patterns for garments embellished with her floral designs. Featuring a beautiful layout and magnificent photography, this keepsake volume features stitch pattern flowers, petal constructed flowers, cord flowers, and the extremely popular felted flowers. Some make fanciful pieces of jewelry; others can adorn handicrafts for a fabulous finishing touch. Among the pretty garden blossoms: a calla lily, blue and purple pansies, a delicate lacy white wedding boutonniere; and a selection of floral corkscrews.

A reprint of the bestselling hardcover edition

Customer Reviews:

it's a reprint Jun 24, 2010

The first thing you should know about this book is it's a reprint of this book Nicky Epstein's Crocheted Flowers - this is not a new or updated book on the same theme.
The second thing is just my opinion - I don't think the book is that great. The flowers are not that great, you can google "crocheted flowers" and come up with great patterns that make cooler looking flowers. I wasn't impressed with the directions - they are not very clear and are difficult to understand. I know that M's Epstein is known primarily for her work in the knitting universe, so maybe she didn't have the interest or skill to proof the patterns before publishing the book.
There are a few nice patterns but I'd recommend other books such as Crochet Bouquet: Easy Designs for Dozens of Flowers
or Crochet Adorned: Reinvent Your Wardrobe with Crocheted Accents, Embellishments, and Trims and Beyond-the-Square Crochet Motifs: 144 circles, hexagons, triangles, squares, and other unexpected shapes for clearer instructions and more interesting motifs. If you like M's Epstein's work, definitely get the book. If you're looking for patterns for embellishments, I recommend the 3 books I named. (and no, I don't get a kickback from anybody for my suggestions).

THIS IS NOT A NEW BOOK...BE WARNED Apr 22, 2010

I own pretty much every book Nicky Epstein has written...I love her designs, her directions are putrid....BUT THIS BOOK CAME OUT IN HARD COVER some years ago...just know if you order it that it is a reprint in paperback..and AMAZON SHOULD POST THAT PROMINENTLY...

Fabulous Flowers Feb 12, 2010

I am constantly delving into this book to find just the right flower or flowers for my latest creation. The stitch charts are great and the patterns are flawless. Love it, love it, love it.

Firstly, I am a fan of Nicky Epstein. I have other books by her including one for crocheting Barbie doll clothes. Easy instructions and great illustrations.

Disappointing Oct 26, 2009

There are some really nice flowers in this book. The book itself is beautifully laid out.

But...

I can not get past the photographs! They are professional and artistic, but they are absolutely wrong for a technique book. They are all similar to the cover image; the items are shown at an angle, with several on a page and a very narrow depth of field. The result is that for most of the patterns, you cannot see what the finished product looks like.

Other things that I didn't care for
A significant number of the patterns use beads or other items. Also, there are quite a few projects included, a few of which I thought were pretty ugly. It would have been better to use those pages for more flower designs.
